![]() ENERGY STAR is the trusted, government-backed symbol for energy-efficient products and practices that help save money and protect the environment. This model is an ENERGY STAR® certified Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system. Using USB connection, PowerPanel Personal Edition 2.2.0 works with this newer UPS (maybe it might work on serial port too if I had a regular serial cable), and while there is a lot more information available about the UPS in the program, such as the ability to trigger self-test and see battery percentage, there still is no way in the software. Provides a user-friendly dashboard interface for controlling and monitoring the UPS. Minimizes noise during operation for a quieter work environment. Is a patented design that allows utility power to bypass the UPS transformer, when AC power is stable, which reduces energy consumption, noise, and heat buildup.ĭisplays immediate, detailed information on the battery backup and power conditions, alerting users to potential problems before they can affect critical equipment and cause downtime. Rapidly charge and power USB devices such as tablets (including iPad), smartphones, MP3 players, and other mobile accessories. Uses pulse wave modulation to generate a stepped, approximated sine wave to supply cost-effective battery backup power for equipment that does not require sine wave output. Provides clean, consistent AC power by automatically regulating low voltages and over voltages, within defined tolerances, when incoming utility power has minor fluctuations. Prevents power surges that travel through telephone, coaxial, and Ethernet lines from causing damage to electronics.Įxists when a line interactive UPS has an autotransformer that regulates low voltages (e.g., brownouts) and over voltages (e.g., spikes) without having to switch to battery. Helps prevent loss of data and minimizes the component stress caused by a hard shutdown.ĭiverts excess voltage away from sensitive electronic equipment during an AC power surge or power spike to prevent damage. Supplies power long enough for equipment to properly shut down when utility power fails. Two USB charge ports (2.1 Amp shared) rapidly power portable devices such as mobile phones, MP3 players, and cameras. AVR is essential in areas where power fluctuations occur frequently. ![]() ![]() The CST135XLU uses Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) to correct minor power fluctuations without switching to battery power, which extends battery life. I also found a USB to serial dongle adapter (designed to add a serial port to the back of PC, not the other kind designed to connect directly into the peripheral DCE equipment), connected that to my serial cable, and Windows recognized it as a USB UPS device, and the older versions of PowerPanel also work with it, but the UPS still is not found with the most recent version of PowerPanel Personal Edition.Product Description CyberPower CST135XLU 1350VA/810W AVR, LCD, and USB 2.0 UPS SystemĭescriptionA mini-tower UPS with line interactive topology, the CyberPower Intelligent LCD CST135XLU provides battery backup (using simulated sine wave output) and surge protection for desktop computers, workstations, networking devices, and home entertainment systems. It therefore could only support simplex (one-way) protocol, as it's missing RX! A null modem cable surely would not work at all! Specifically, the CyberPower UPS cable that they sold to me for their devices has only 5 pins connected: pin 1 (DCD), pin 3 (TX), pin 4 (DTR), pin 7 (RTS), and pin 8 (CTS). I don't know how I mixed that up! I'm going to try to get my earlier post edited by the admin or deleted, as I don't want to be spreading misinformation. Using USB connection, PowerPanel Personal Edition 2.2.0 works with this newer UPS (maybe it might work on serial port too if I had a regular serial cable?), and while there is a lot more information available about the UPS in the program, such as the ability to trigger self-test and see battery percentage, there still is no way in the software to configure the audible alarm!Ĭlick to expand.I re-tested today with better tools, and discovered the CyberPower UPS serial cable is indeed a straight extension cable like the OP originally said and has used successfully. I'd rather it beeped constantly like the older one, given that I prefer not to run software to know quickly that the power went out. I actually just got a slightly newer CP550, this one has both the serial and USB ports and it only beeps once every 10 seconds or so when power goes out. So I figured long ago, who needs on screen notification as well? Yes, once on battery it beeps constantly (until the battery runs out, power comes back on, or you switch it off) and there is no way to configure it to behave otherwise. are you sure it was a extension/straight-through and not a null modem? Maybe the device doesn't even use those crossed lines, it's pretty basic as far as the communication with PC is involved.
